Duccio di Buoninsegna (1255 to 1319) is one of the most important italian painter of this period.
This painting is a small part of the master piece “La Maesta”. It’s painted on wood with eggs and pigments “tempera”. Wooden board is sculpted and the gold is put on it.
“La Maestà” is a religious painting of Duccio di Buoninsegna and you can see it at Metropolitana del Duomo (Sienne).
The face of this angel expresses a sort of sadness linked to Jesus anticipated death.
